Film-faced plywood, also known as phenolic plywood or shuttering plywood, is constructed by coating both sides of plywood sheets with a wear-resistant, waterproof film. The film is typically impregnated with phenol-formaldehyde or melamine resin, providing enhanced strength, moisture resistance, abrasion resistance, and chemical protection for the core wood. The core material can vary, commonly including birch, poplar, eucalyptus, acacia, or combi cores . The plywood is bonded with strong adhesives such as WBP, phenolic, or MR glue to ensure durability and stiffness.
